Red work their way into the Fall

2011 Makeup Trends

Fall is right around the corner and new makeup trends are popping up on runways and in fashion magazines. The key trends for this season are strongly lined eyes, dramatic lashes, deep jewel-toned or metallic shadows, a rosy and fresh cheek, red lips and, of course, great skin. While great skin is always a necessity, remember to incorporate the look that works best within your comfort zone to create your perfect fall look and maintain your personal comfort level with color.

The Eyes Have It!   

                    

This season it is all about deep, rich jewel tone and metallic shadows, a dramatic eye line, and lashes. For the dramatic eye line, I recommend either Kevyn Aucoin’s Precision Eye Definer in four metallic colors or Hourglass Cosmetics Calligraphy Pen in Black, Cognac, or Indigo. Either liner will create an amazing look while keeping you within your comfort level as far as application. Regarding shadows, we recommend that you stop into our boutique and have one of our professional makeup artists work with you to choose the colors that work best for you.

A Fresh and Rosy Cheek is a Perfect Look for All
This fall, the cheek is fresh and flushed with color focused on the apple of the cheek followed by a slight upward sweep.  A rosy pink glow works for any skin tone and can brighten up any complexion. My favorites to create the look are Face Atelier’s Facade Lip and Cheek Color, Girlactik’s Star Powder and Cream Blush, and Kevyn Aucoin’s Pure Powder Glow in Shadore.

RED, RED, RED!

Whether you choose a deep burgundy, a true red, or a red-hued gloss, the look for this fall is a full, red, lip. While this look may be out of many women’s “comfort zone” in lip color, at The Powder Room Makeup Oasis and Boutique we have a variety of options to create the look that works you. For those more comfortable with a deep, rich cream lipstick I recommend either Mojo Cosmetics or Face Atelier. We also carry several lighter options that can either be layered for a deeper look or applied with a gloss for a lighter, fresher red.
